What Are Microkinis?
So it's a bright summer day and you're in the mood to swing on at the beach. A really great idea, I mean, what is better than spending a nice warm day than spending it outdoors?
So now you're at the beach with a few friends and you're having the time of your life. When suddenly, a pretty young thing passes by you and you drop EVERYTHING at hand just to look at her. Yeah, the sight of that chick sets your heart (amongst other things) racing! Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. And then one of your friends saunters up to you and says in a barely audible whisper, "Hey, what is she wearing?" And you think to yourself, "Right, that isn't a bikini she's wearing.."
Correct, but you are not totally correct. What she is wearing is called a micro bikini, or a microkini. So sit up and listen boys, because this is one fashion lecture you KNOW you don't want to miss.

Everyone sat up and started looking back in 1947 when the bikini was introduced to the people of France. The people in France were shocked! "Blasphemy," they cried, "foul play!" But all the women in France didn't care. They told the elders to pipe down, and they took to the bikini like a charm. And boy, did they strut their stuff. And that's how the bikini came to be known as the favorite article of clothing for boys and men all over the world!
And now fast forward to the present. The bikini became more of a common piece as time went by. But then, innovation struck gold! The traditional bikini actually offered proper coverage of the bottom and the breasts. But as time passed, the people in the beaches of Brazil got a little more risqué and decided to cut off a little material from the conventional bikini, to create skimpier outfits.
The microkini, however, takes this cloth management trick to the max! It uses the minimum amount of material possible (so as to obey the public decency laws), and to be honest, offers hardly any coverage at all! In fact, the micro bikinis use such little material, that a traditional bikini would seem to be very conservative in comparison!
So how did the micro bikinis come around? It all started in the 1970's, in Venice Beach, California. A law banning nudity at beaches had just been passed, and the people designed and adopted the micro bikini as a form of protest against the state legislation. The tiny amount of fabric was just enough to cover the most sensitive areas on the body, yet solid enough to avoid the people from getting arrested. Everything else is pretty much visible, and hardly anything is left to the imagination. And gradually, from a form of protest, it became an instant fashion statement!
Definitely, it takes a lot of courage and spunk to show up in one of those micro bikinis, but then again be sure that you have something to flaunt.
